GasVue TG30

If your job is to locate fugitive emissions from storage tanks, pipes, valves, gas insulated substations, or to leak test SF6 circuit breakers LIS offers a revolutionary device which will make your job faster, easier and more effective.

GasVue® systems allow real-time visualization of gas leaks that are normally invisible. The laser camera produces conventional real-time television images that can be viewed on any standard monitor or recorded on video tape. More than 80 different gases may be seen with this technology.

GasVue systems offer a considerable improvement over soaping, sniffing or bagging techniques when it comes to locating leaks and fugitive emissions. This improvement is due to the thorough wide-area coverage offered by the laser camera field-of-view. Leak detection and location using soaps, sniffers or bagging techniques require the operator to be in close proximity to the leak. With the GasVue leak detection range of 30 meters (100 feet) more of your facility may be inspected from ground level. This makes it possible to inspect electrical equipment while energized and machinery while in use. For example, SF6 gas circuit breakers can be inspected from ground level while energized to hundreds of kilovolts, and refrigeration compressors may be inspected as they operate.

The GasVue system may be used in either shoulder-mount, mobile or fixed installations, and provides a LIVE video image of gas leaks as small as 1 Kg per YEAR !

SF6 Monitoring

The GasVue TG-30 literally shows you where SF6 leaks are located in real-time on a TV monitor, and at distances up to 30 meters. The GasVue TG-30 is an improved version of the TG-20 system (US patent #4,555,627, Europe EP0602119, DE69211350.9) that has already helped many electrical utilities locate the major sources of their SF6 emissions. Forget about soaping, hand-held sniffers, and those other labor-intensive leak location methods - they are all things of the past.

Implementing improvements suggested and evaluated by the Electric Power Research Institute, the GasVue TG-30 has been designed specifically for locating SF6 leaks in the electrical substation environment. Using to its advantage the same intense infrared absorption that makes SF6 such a strong greenhouse gas, the GasVue TG-30 makes the normally invisible SF6 gas leak "visible" on the laser camera viewfinder, allowing the operator to quickly pinpoint the source of the leak. The GasVue TG-30 is capable of detecting SF6 leaks as small as 1 lb/yr (0.12 cc/min), and its portability and wide inspection field-of-view allows leak surveys of entire substations in less than one day!

Gas Leak Location

If you want to make serious emission reduction as in accordance to all international legislation, all you need to do is quicly locate and repair your large leakers. You could solve this problem using the wide area leak visualization capability of the LIS GASVUE MG-30. This new technology actually shows you where your leaks are located in real-time on a TV monitor, and at distances up to 30 meters. The MG-30 is a wavelength-tunable version of the GasVue TG-30 system that is currently being used in the electrical utility industry to reduce their SF6 emissions. And the news gets better the US EPA is now considering the GasVue leak detection method as an alternative work practice to Method 21.

The GasVue MG-30 makes normally invisible gas leaks "visible" on the laser camera viewfinder, allowing the operator to quickly pinpoint the source of the leak. The wide-angle field-of-view of the shoulder-mount laser camera allows you to inspect hundreds of potential leak sites in a matter of minutes. Leaks of 10,000 ppm and greater are quickly identified and documented since the video output may be recorded by VCR and/or displayed on any conventional TV monitor. The tunable laser in the GasVue MG-30 allows detection of up to 80 hazardous gases. Options include either 115 220 VAC power operation (50 or 60 Hz), and NTSC or PAL video formats. The standard system comes calibrated for 5 gases of your choice, with additional calibrations of up to 20 gases possible.

Gas Database

This is a list of gases which can be visualized using the LIS GasVue® technology. The system sensitivity for each gas is expressed as a leak rate in terms of kilograms per year.
For example, an item with a single leak of only 1 kg (2.2 pounds) per year of sulfur hexaflouride may be visualized by the GasVue camera, whereas for acetaldehyde, a leak of at least 297 kg/year would be required.
