Presentation
The course is divided in two sessions. The first session illustrates the analyzers more common employed in the field of the gas analyzers (to infrared and ultraviolet beams, electrochemical cells, etc), while the second session is dedicated to analyzers of greater sophistication and specialistic employment which Chromatographs, Fotoacustici, CRDS, PTR-MS, NIR and FTIR from process. For both the sessions, beyond to the specific illustration of several the types of instruments, come supplied an introductory slight knowledge of theory and chemical-physical bases on the measure principles, and information of engineering and practical character on the applications, sample conditioning, installation, conduction and maintenance of the process analysers.
The course is turned technicians who, having already some experience in the industrial instrumentation, wish to deep their knowledges about the principles of operation and the characteristics of the analyzers, in order to be able to proceed in the choice, installation and use of these instruments, that are always more important for the chemical process control, petrochemical, iron and steel plants. A particular attention will be turned to the analytical techniques for the measure of gases in the field of the monitoring of the Industrial Emissions (Incineritors, Turbogas...), in the dusts monitoring and in particular applications (es. analysis of the TDI, Cl2, etc.) and to the methods of measure for compound at lowest concentration (ppb, ppt) for the contamination in clean rooms.
Program of the course
- Callbacks of basic knowledges of chemistry and physics.
- Tipical analysers to measure toxicity and explosivity in air.
- Gas analysers: IR and UV, at termic conductivity, etc.
- Gas analysers: PAS and FTIR technology.
- Trace gas Analyser: µVOC - CAM, PTR-MS, CRDS.
- Emission analysis following the actual norms.
- Notions of the theory of the gascromatographics technique.
- Sampling methods.
- Package systems and start-up techniques of the systems.
Laboratory
The course does not make reference to specific constructors of apparatuses. However the interested companies will be able to ask to put to disposition of the students their illustrative material or to exhibit they apparatuses. Practical experiences in field and visits dedicated to specific problems can be scheduled.
